Trusting God To Multiply What You Already Have

The best advice I have ever received is this: Don’t look too far ahead for your blessing, because when God chooses to bless you, He uses what’s already in your hands.

Too often, we spend our time searching for something greater, a bigger opportunity, a better job, a more “perfect” moment, before we begin to use our potential. But that’s not how God works. God doesn’t wait for you to have more before He moves; He uses what you already have.

Whatever is in your hands right now, however small or insignificant it may seem, is enough for God to perform a miracle.

“Then the LORD said to him, ‘What is that in your hand?’” — Exodus 4:2

When Moses stood before God, all he had was a staff, just a stick. Yet that same staff parted the Red Sea, brought water from a rock, and became a sign of God’s power.

Look at Jesus and the multitude. When the disciples saw thousands of hungry people, they panicked. They thought the sermon had to end so the people could go find food. But Jesus didn’t send them away; He asked, “What do you have?”
Five loaves and two fishes; that’s all they could find. But in the hands of Jesus, that “not enough” became more than enough.

“And they all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.” — Matthew 14:20

Then there’s David. Saul thought David needed armour and a sword to fight Goliath. But David knew that God doesn’t bless through what we don’t have, He blesses through what we do have. All David carried were a few stones and a slingshot, the same tools he had used to defend his flock and with them, he brought down a giant.

“The LORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” — 1 Samuel 17:37

And remember the widow whom Elijah visited? All she had was a handful of flour and a little oil. It seemed like nothing. But when she offered what she had, God multiplied it, and it never ran out.

“The jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry.” — 1 Kings 17:16

You don’t need to look elsewhere. You don’t need to chase something new. God has already placed everything you need to prosper, to overcome, to build, and to bless others, right within your reach.

So today, take a look at what’s in your hands. Your gift, your skill, your time, your voice, your little effort, that’s where God’s miracle begins.

Have faith. Believe. Pray that God will breathe upon what’s already in your hands and make it more than enough.

“Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to His power that works in us.” — Ephesians 3:20

Because when you place what’s in your hands into His hands, that’s when the impossible happens.

Almighty Lord,
Thank You for Your word that has spoken to my heart today.
Thank You for the gifts You have already placed within me and for all that You’ve put into my hands.
Thank You for reminding me that everything I need to fulfil Your purpose is already within my reach.
Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have doubted what I have, or looked elsewhere for the blessings You have already provided. Today, I choose to trust You with what is in my hands.
Breathe upon it, Lord, and multiply it, just as You multiplied the loaves and fishes.
Use my life as a vessel of Your power and Your purpose.
Open my eyes to see the value in what You’ve given me.
Strengthen my faith to act with confidence, knowing that little becomes much when You are in it. In Jesus’ mighty name,
