“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans."
Romans 8:26.
A warrior can describe someone who has the job of going to war when the need arises. Every civilized society should have a group of people who are dedicated to protecting that particular community.
Naturally, insects that exist in a colony or an army normally have some specifically designed to protect the nest against intrusive forces. Ants have soldiers who have natural features that allow them to take on an enemy that wishes to destroy their colony or come against their queen. Anything that happens to their queen will in fact disrupt their entire existence and put their future at risk.
Humans do the same. Every nation, town or civilized settlement have a group they call warriors or soldiers whose job is to protect the community from anything that threatens their peace of security. These soldiers are trained and armed in a specific and measured way to be able to take out any threat that comes upon them.
A warrior or a soldier who doesn’t take their training seriously is a security risk to the rest of his platoon. He will disrupt their plan which will need to be intact and well executed if they are to succeed over their enemies. If a soldier moves out of sync with his fellow soldiers that may mean destruction for all of them and a surrender of their territory to the enemy to do what they want to what they hold dear.
Before one can be called a warrior or soldier, they must be set aside from the ordinary citizens. They must possess the qualities to stay calm in times of chaos. They must learn not to panic when everyone else is panicking so they can execute their duties in protecting their people.
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes'
Ephesians 6:11.
Another important aspect of being a soldier or warrior is to be adequately prepared for battle. Soldiers do not enter the battlefield unless they are well-suited from top to bottom. They do not put on anything that will slow them down but rather things that would make them move swiftly and tactfully.
Prayer is communication with God. Prayer is also about getting the things God has spoken to be manifested into the physical. God has already given us victory over our enemies by virtue of our faith and belief in Him and His son Jesus Christ.
However, the evil forces that exist on earth are constantly in battle with the children of God to get them to reject Him. This struggle causes there to be a constant battle between good and evil. This battle exists in all of us. There is a force that tries to please the flesh and another that seeks to please the spirit.
When the spirit is weak, the flesh succumbs to the evil one. This is why we must be in constant contact with the Holy Spirit to keep the fire of our spirits burning. Prayer edifies our souls and causes our spirits which become one with the Holy Spirit after salvation to constantly overcome the flesh which is quick to walk into sin.
The devil does not bother with those who are already in disbelief but rather he does battle with believers so that their fleshly needs will overcome their spiritual needs.
A prayer warrior is one who is always prepared to battle with the devil in favor of the spiritual blessings that the Lord has already bestowed on us through His word. Let’s have a look at how one can be able to become a prayer warrior.
How to become a prayer warrior
Be prepared for battle
Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Rouse the warriors! Let all the fighting men draw near and attack.Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weakling say, “I am strong!
Joel 3:9, 10
When there is war, the first people to be alerted are warriors and soldiers. They get prepared and are told the strategy to be able to win the war before they go into the battlefield. As mentioned earlier, there is a constant war between believers and the devil.
A battle between the flesh and the spirit. A prayer warrior should always be prepared for battle since there is no rest. The enemy prowls each day like a lion looking for whom they can devour. That means that prayer warriors cannot have a moment lapse in concentration, else they are tempted and devoured.
A prayer warrior is in constant spiritual communication with the Lord and on the lookout for the devourer so they do not harm them or their fellow soldier. As a prayer warrior, the Holy Spirit must always be edified in you to be able to withstand the evil plans of the enemy.
Have on the full armor of God
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:14-18.
An armor protects the parts of the body that could be weakened by an enemy’s attack. A prayer warrior keeps this armor on them at all times because they do not know the enemy’s plan of attack. The belt of truth is the word of God which can never be changed by anyone.
Prayer warriors are always fully protected from head to toe. When the enemy attacks their mind they battle with the knowledge of truth, when he attacks them physically, a warrior triumphs with an edified Holy Spirit.
As mentioned earlier, a prayer warrior proclaims, declares, binds, tramples, and burns with ammunitions that is in line with the will of God. Whatever God has said about His people will be made manifest when we pray. As a prayer warrior, you must never relent in your duty to constantly defeat the enemy through the Holy Spirit so you can enjoy and live according to the will of God.
Spirit must always have dominion
For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
Galatians 5:17.
A prayer warrior’s spirit must always have dominion over their flesh. Their mind should always focus on things of the spirit. When they are confronted with a demonic problem, they are not shaken or perturbed because their minds are tuned in to the spirit. They subdued thair flesh in favor of the spirit. They allow the Holy Spirit to discern for them. They do not live carnally. They do not give in to fleshy desires.
Even though they are tempted like everyone else, they are quick to rise even when they fall. They overcome the flesh at all times and do not allow evil to overcome their spirits. The Holy Spirit is always kindled in their souls and they are prepared always to intercede for their fellow soldiers and protect their loved ones.
The word of God is always on their lips because they have meditated day and night over it. Remember prayer is the transfer of the word of God from the spiritual realm into the physical while destroying any impediments put in place by the devil. This is why prayer warriors must be filled with the word of God.
