For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
The powers of darkness are not called that for no reason. Light and darkness have no business together. The devil and his followers work better and is more powerful in the darkness. This the reason why we must not live our lives in the dark.
When you uncover any act of darkness the devil loses his power over it. This is why when you keep a particular sin in secret and do not tell anyone about it, you can be held in bondage over it for a long time. The moment you confess that sin to someone it looses its hold over you and you stop feeling guilty about it because it is out of the darkness.
The devil loses his power when light appears on his works. It is therefore at midnight that the evil forces love to operate. When the sheep sleep in the night the thieves and the wolves come and try to steal them from the good shepherd.
Whiles it is good to sleep, it is also good to keep a spiritual night watch. Whiles it is good that you pray before you sleep, it is also good to rise in the middle of the night and battle with the forces of evil that try to destroy your inheritance in the Lord.
The good news though as Paul says in the text is that the weapons you possess to fight are not of this world. They are divine weapons.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:7
The armour of God is necessary for any Christian engaging in spiritual warfare. The helmet of salvation gives you the right to be on the battlefield. It gives you the qualification to be able to do battle with forces of darkness. Salvation gives you the power from God.
The sword of the spirit is the word of God. That means in battling strongholds you must quote the words of God concerning the area you are being attacked on. If the devil tries to tell you that you are alone then quote him the word of God that tells you He will never leave you nor forsake you.
When he attacks you on your job you tell him no weapon fashion against you shall prosper. It is through the spoken word of God that you can alter the plans of the devil.
Waging spiritual warfare in the middle of the night requires knowledge of the word of God. It is not enough just to shout and scream in the night. You must be fully equipped with the full armour of God. By doing this you shine a light on the dark evil and it loses its power over your life. The strongholds established by the evil one can be broken with the word of God in your mouth.

Tonight, I come before You in battle, clothed in the armour of faith. You have said that I am already healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ, and I stand on that truth. I exclude my family from all illnesses and proclaim divine protection over my body and that of my family. I declare sanctification upon our blood. I speak life into our bones and destroy any attempt by the evil one to bring harm or paralysis.

I block all intrusions on my properties and cover the gates to my possessions with the sword of Your archangel. I redeem any treasures I have lost and cast the evil plans of the enemy into his own pit.

I declare that my whole family will be safe and covered by Your divine protection. I shine Your light upon all evil and darkness that may await me, knowing that You are with me always.

My work is blessed, my actions are blessed, and all plans to cause me to regress are canceled in the mighty name of Jesus.

Demonic strongholds are demonic pillars in your life. It is very easy to accept these things as if they are normal. Some people often say it’s not a surprise for them to get a particular disease because it is already in the family. They feel like just because there is a family history of cancer does not mean you should accept it. You have been reborn into a new family by Christ Jesus.
That means you have been disconnected from the sinful line of Adam that brings death and disease. You are a saved soul in a fallen world. Yes, bad things will happen. But never let them influence you to forget who you are. You are a child of God, an heir to the kingdom of Heaven. The power you wield is more potent than any evil under the sun. Let no evil cause you to forget your power.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
