Job 19:25-27 NIV

I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;
I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!.
Job 19:25-27 I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;
I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!.

Other Bible Translations

KJV

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

NKJV

For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!

NIRV

I know that my redeemer lives. In the end he will stand on the earth. Though my skin will be destroyed, in my body I’ll see God. I myself will see him with my own eyes. I’ll see him, and he won’t be a stranger to me. How my heart longs for that day!

NASB

Yet as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last, He will take His stand on the earth. Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I will see God, Whom I, on my part, shall behold for myself, And whom my eyes will see, and not another. My heart faints within me!

ESV

For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!

NLT

“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!

CSB

But I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the end he will stand on the dust. Even after my skin has been destroyed, yet I will see God in my flesh. I will see him myself; my eyes will look at him, and not as a stranger. My heart longs within me.

Job 19:25-27 Meaning

In the Bible, there are many stories that portrayed the faith of various people in God. Among them all, Job’s faith stands out as truly remarkable. Job’s life is arguably the greatest example of a “grace to grass” story presented in the Bible.

He went from being a healthy, wealthy lover of God to a diseased and impoverished man who lost everything he held dear. Yet, through it all, his unwavering love and trust in the God he served shone brightly.

If you give someone everything they desire and they love you, that’s natural. But to take away everything from someone, leaving them with nothing but pain, and for them to still choose to love you even in their pain, that’s the ultimate proof of genuine love.

In this verse, Job speaks about how, even in the worst possible circumstances, he would not lose hope because he knew the Lord was alive. He said that even though his skin was being destroyed, he was confident that he would see God.

I don’t know what you’re going through right now that makes you feel as though God won’t reveal Himself to you. No fate could be worse than Job’s, yet he still believed he would see God.

So, no matter what life throws at you, be it sickness, poverty, unemployment, childlessness, loss of loved ones, or unrequited love, no matter the pains and heartaches, hold on to the belief that in any state, you will see God. Job said he yearned within himself.

Who or what do you yearn for?

Prayer

Everlasting Lord,
Today, I pray for faith, the kind of faith that Job had in You. Teach me to love and trust You completely, Lord. Help me not to focus on the wrong things in my life, but instead, to always keep my heart and mind fixed on You, the Almighty Lord who never fails.
Amen.
