Deuteronomy 15:11
There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.
Christmas isn’t the same for all children. When you wake up on Christmas Day with presents under the tree, consider it a privilege, not a right. Things could have been very different for you. Count yourself fortunate and blessed to be in that position.
There are children all over the world who are not waking up on Christmas day to presents under a Christmas tree. Some don’t even have parents to love them, hold them when it’s cold, read to them at night, comfort them during nightmares, protect them from bullies, or console them when they’re sad.
Some children wake up to the harsh realities of war and destruction. Others face the uncertainty of whether they will have food to eat today or if they will survive to see tomorrow. Many endure abuse in various forms, with nothing bright or hopeful in their future.
Your circumstances are shaped by factors beyond your control. Where you were born, the parents you were born to, and the environment you find yourself in. These determine the kind of childhood and future you experience.
Mark 10:13-15
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
This Christmas, when you say a prayer, remember the children in situations no child should ever face. Pray for those in pain and tears because of circumstances beyond their control. Pray for the children who are suffering from abuse and neglect. Pray for those dying of starvation, unable to do anything about it. Pray for children in hospitals battling terminal illnesses. Pray for those whose lives have been forever altered by accidents or tragedies they had no power to prevent.
When you take your child to the mall or the shop to buy Christmas presents, remember this: just across the street, there may be a child who is starving. Unlike adults, who can often take steps to change their circumstances, children lack the ability to improve their situations on their own.
Beyond your prayers, take action to help. Knock on your neighbor’s door and check on them. They may be unable to afford Christmas presents for their children. They may be struggling with hospital bills or unable to put food on the table.
As Jesus welcomed the children, inviting them to come to Him and not withholding His goodness, so should we. Share what you can with the children around you. Whether it’s your time, resources, or kindness, your generosity will be a blessing to them and to you.
Heartfelt Christmas Prayers for the Most Vulnerable Children in the World
Christmas Prayer for Starving Children
Dear Lord,
This Christmas, I lift up to You the starving children of this world. Those who do not know where their next meal will come from, those who have no one to provide for them, and those who are dying slowly each day as their bodies waste away.
I pray for the children who have been rejected and abandoned, those who must beg for food, and those who have been forgotten. Lord, I bring them before You and ask for Your divine intervention.
Come to their aid, Lord. Let them experience Your grace and love. You did not create them to suffer. Please intervene in their lives and save them from starvation.
In the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
Christmas Prayer for Sick Children
Dear Lord,
This Christmas, I pray for the healing of sick children. Please, Lord, let them not carry their ailments into the new year. Heal those who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses. Bring relief to those suffering from infections, colds, and coughs.
Touch the lives of children battling genetic diseases and those burdened by generational disorders and curses. They had no part in causing these struggles, and they should not have to endure such pain.
Let Your mighty hand save them, Lord. Restore their health and grant them a life filled with joy. Bring smiles back to their faces, healing to their bodies, and peace to their souls and cause them to suffer no more.
Amen.
Christmas Prayer for Children in war zones
Father Lord,
Have mercy on the children in war zones. They are not meant to be there. You did not create anyone to suffer, but the evil in this fallen world has made it so.
Christmas is meant to be a time of celebration and laughter but these children can't partake in any of the fun moments this season brings. Please deliver these children from such atrocities. They have been failed by those who swore to protect them, and they are living in a nightmare. Rescue them, Lord, and let their futures be bright.
Feed the hungry, heal the sick, and bring hope to the hopeless. Restore faith to the faithless. For those who have been disfigured, let them find hope and comfort in You. For those who have passed, may they find acceptance and eternal rest in Your loving arms.
Bring all conflicts to an end, Lord. Let peace reign and secure the future of these children in You.
Amen.
Christmas Prayer for Poor Orphans
Dear Lord,
Have mercy on poor orphans this Christmas. They have no one to look out for them, and they may feel vulnerable and alone. Without Your protection, they could be led astray or wander into destruction.
Please, Lord, care for them. Provide them with help and guidance. Surround them with people who will strengthen and support them. Let their lives not grow harder, but instead, bring them hope and renewal.
Grant them the direction they need and the love their hearts crave. Bless their souls, wipe away their tears, and fill them with peace. Let their futures be bright, and help them fulfill the purpose and potential You have for them, no matter their circumstances.
Amen.
Christmas Prayer for Homeless Children
Dear Lord,
Please set Your eyes on homeless children. Those who have fled their homes, those who have been abandoned, neglected, or left without nurture and care. Christmas is a time to be home with family but these children do not have that.
Bring them back to You, Lord. Lead them to the purpose You have for their lives. Protect them from falling into the hands of the enemy or being influenced by bad company. Help them to recognize their mistakes and have a change of heart.
Restore the lost, Lord. Provide for those whose parents cannot afford a home. Shield them from the dangers of the streets, and surround them with Your love and protection.
Amen.
Christmas Prayer for Children of divorce
Father Lord,
Please help children of divorce this Christmas. Though their parents may be separating, let them not feel left behind or forgotten. Surround them with Your love and assurance.
Do not let their lives be negatively affected by this separation. Protect them from being mocked by their peers and grant them understanding and compassion from those around them. Let them never feel unloved or unfavored.
Bless their lives, Lord. Secure their future and help them excel in school. Order their steps toward success and guide them into greatness. Do not let this separation define their lives, but instead, let Your favor and grace be their constant guide.
Amen.
Christmas Prayer for Abused Children
Dear Lord,
This Christmas, we bring before you children suffering any form of abuse. Please help these children. Break their chains and open the gates of their oppression. Let their abusers, whether family or friends, be exposed and brought to justice.
Grant these children the courage to speak out against their abuse and the strength to fight back. Protect them, Lord, from their abusers and all harm. Surround them with Your peace and solace, and let them find comfort in You. Let the celebration of the birth of Christ bring these children freedom and liberation.
Bless these children, dear Lord. Help them to understand that none of this is their fault. Release them from mental bondage, free them from oppression, and guide them to overcome the evil they have endured.
Amen.

Children are a precious gift from God. When a child comes into the world, they are like a blind stranger, searching for guidance in a chaotic environment. The direction and care they receive will shape their lives for years to come.
Unfortunately, some children are left in difficult, heart-wrenching circumstances. Some do not grow up in the ideal environment every child deserves. Others are subjected to inhumane conditions or even lose their lives before they truly begin to live. Some are diagnosed with terminal illnesses before they can experience the world.
This Christmas, let us pray for children everywhere. Ask God to intervene in their lives and transform their circumstances. Pray for healing, for hope, and for a better future. Ask God to give them the chance to live a life filled with love, joy, and opportunity.
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it
