Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Ephesians 5:2-3
December is the last month of the year but also marks the greatest sacrifice we have ever known or seen. That the one without sin or blemish was born to be killed for the salvation of mankind. There are those who find this story fascinating and unbelieveable. They do not believe that there is a creator of this entire universe who sent his son to redeem mankind.
Truth however is absolute and does not depend on anything to be valid. Whether it makes sense or not, we were not created by ourselves and do not exist on our own. It is also true that we were created by a perfect and holy being whose breath gave us the life we have now.
Just as you exist on earth through your mortal father, you exist in the spiritual realm because of your spiritual father. December reminds us of the reason why we can exist in the afterlife with this immortal Father. It is the month that closes out the year but also marks the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14
God left no doubt for us to know when He sent His son to us. He made sure He was not from Adam’s seed. He also made sure he performed miracles and showed us a glimpse of the freedom and healing that is characteristic of life with Him. In heaven there is no suffering or wars, no death or tears. This is the freedom and salvation Jesus brought to us on earth.
The birth of Christ is a fulfilment of the promise through the prophet Isaiah that a messiah will be sent to us to redeem us from sin. The birth of Christ shows that God never forgets His children and wants them to be saved from hell. Just as He did in the garden of Eden, He has given us a choice to be with Him eternally through belief in his son and what he did for us.
December is the month where we reflect on the year we have gone through. It should also be the month we remind ourselves of our true purpose and the fact that this world is not our home but rather a glorious afterlife awaits us through faith in Jesus Christ.

Prayer for the less fortunate in December
Dear Lord in heaven,
Today we say a prayer for those less fortunate, for those who lack the liberties and comforts we sometimes take for granted. We ask You to be with those struggling and in need, to feed the hungry and provide for the poor. This world is far from the one You created, so we pray for Your intervention.
Please bring relief to those caught in conflict and shelter those in war zones. Protect and comfort children who are without parents, and strengthen those whose hearts are broken. Be a source of hope for the hopeless, and help those who have lost faith find their way back to You.
Breathe new life into the hearts of those who need it most, restoring peace, love, and purpose. Let Your grace reach every corner of the earth and touch those who are yearning for Your presence. Let this month bring joy into their hearts.
Amen.

Prayer for the unbeliever in December
Dear Lord,
In the month of December, we pray for those who are yet to believe. Please reach out to them and help them discover Your grace. Lead them to Your light and save them from the darkness. Let Your words be like sweet music to their ears, calling them toward You.
Save them from the paths that lead away from You; break down the walls around their hearts. Through the gift of Your Son’s birth, bring them salvation and a renewed sense of hope. Soften their hearts, Lord, and guide them to the path that leads to You.
Reveal to them the treasures You’ve placed within them. Show them their true purpose and worth. Let them feel Your love so strongly that they run toward You, longing for the peace only You can give.
Amen.

Watch over our every step, both in our goings out and our comings in, and cover us in Your care throughout our daily lives. Protect us from accidents. Protect us from infections, and any illness that may come our way. Guard us from all evil plans and hidden traps, and keep us safe from harm.
Be with us as we sleep, granting us peace, and walk beside us wherever we go. Protect us from those with ill intentions, including any threats of theft or danger. Let Your angels surround us, covering us with their wings, and let their presence be a shield around us.
May Your protection keep us whole, healthy, and at peace through this holiday season. Thank You for watching over us each day, and for the love that sustains us.

December should be a month of happiness, but for many it is just another month of torture and pain. The world right now has a lot of problems in many places. There are people crying out for help in war-ravaged areas. There are also those who are on sick beds who will not happily be part of this holiday season. We must remember them in prayer.
When you sit down to eat, remember the hungry. When you feel you have enough, remember the poor. Say a prayer for someone this holiday season. Donate to the less fortunate if you can. Pray for the souls of the lost. Ask God to reach them and save them. This is the month of celebration of the birth of Christ so mark it by asking God to bring lost people into His kingdom through Christ Jesus.
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Titus 3:4-6
