He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
In Micah 6, the prophet Micah asks God’s children why they have departed from the ways He has shown them. He reminds them of the bondage they were in and how God has freed them from it. He also tries to find out if they only want to sin because they feel like they can offer sacrifices to Him later.
As people of God, we must depart from this behaviour. God already sent His son to die as a sacrifice for our sins hence there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.
The verse tells God’s children to follow the ways He has shown them so that there will be no need for burnt offerings and sacrifices as retribution for their sins. He tells them to show others the same mercy He has shown them. He tells them to live justly and walk humbly with God. God is just and merciful. He therefore expects His children to act justly and show mercy at all times. God is love and requires His children to love their neighbours as themselves.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:30-31
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:8
Your relationship with your adult children must mimic the relationship God has with us. How our children turn out most often depends on how we raise them to act. An adult who did not receive the right training as a child normally becomes wayward as an adult. We must therefore be just, show mercy and love them in a way that will cause them to be just, merciful and loving. We must train them in the way they should go so they do not depart from it when they are older (Proverbs 22:6).
As adult children, they must already be walking in the light of the Lord. They must not have any other gods apart from the Lord. Smaller gods in their lives are the idols in their lives that they replace with God. These are the behaviours they are slaves to. When the Lord does not take center stage in their lives, the door opens for demonic dominion to enter. We must learn to pray for our adult children so that they become humble for the Lord and walk justly always.

Your children will always be your children. However, we are all God’s children and will forever be His creation. Our eternal souls will dwell with Him in the afterlife. That means we must raise our children in the same way God expects us to live. Once they are grown, they are going to use the same values we thought them to live their lives.
Even though they will not require much supervision then, we must still pray for them at all times. we must commit them to the hands of God. Only He is Omnipresent and Omnipotent. He knows the future and what is best for everyone. That means we must always listen to Him and follow His commands as He knows best. Only He can protect your children throughout their lives and keep them safe and sound for you.
