Pray For Strength – Romans 8:13

Romans 8:13

For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 

You may have the deep desire to break free from this habit, but you’ve likely realized that overcoming it is easier said than done.

You try, sometimes going for long periods without giving in, but then, in a moment of weakness, you find yourself back at square one. It’s frustrating, discouraging, and feels like a battle you can’t win. But let me remind you, nothing is impossible with God.

Ephesians 3:16 reminds us that God can strengthen us with His power through His Spirit. This means that when you invite the Holy Spirit to dwell within you, He will equip you with the strength to resist temptation and break free from destructive habits.

Romans 8:13 teaches us that through the Spirit, we can put to death the desires of the flesh and walk in true freedom. That’s why it is so crucial to pray for strength. Ask God to fill you with His Spirit and give you the power to overcome. You are not fighting alone, God is with you.

Prayer for strength

Dear Lord in Heaven,
I come to You today asking for the strength to overcome my pornography addiction. Father, even when I promise myself that I won’t do it again, I find myself falling back into it just moments later. I desperately need Your strength, dear God, because I cannot do this on my own. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit and empower me to resist the urge to watch pornography. I don’t want to live according to my flesh, nor do I want to give in to my lustful desires. With Your Spirit, help me to put to death the desires of the flesh. Thank you, dear God, for the divine strength that comes only from You.

Your human strength will fail, but God’s strength is unshakable. Rely on Him, and you will find the power to break free.

The heart is the root of all desires. Ask God to purify your heart, filling it with love, strength, and self-discipline.

How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.

Fill your time with God’s Word instead of things that stir up temptation. Let Scripture renew your mind and guide your actions.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Fix your eyes on Jesus. Remember His sacrifice and let go of anything that does not honor Him.
