Mothers — the people we so often take for granted until we look around and realise they are no longer with us.

If you’ve ever suffered the loss of a mother, then you understand just how precious these incredible women are. You recognise, in the ache of their absence, how deeply their presence shaped your life. A mother’s love is a rare and irreplaceable gift, one that we must cherish while we still have the chance.

Too often, we assume they will always be there, always watching over us, always ready with open arms. But time is fleeting, and life is unpredictable. That is why it is so important to express our love and appreciation while we still can.

Nothing compares to a mother’s love for her child. It is pure, unwavering, and unconditional. When a mother loves, she does so with every fibre of her being, pouring herself into her children in ways they may never fully grasp.

She nurtures, sacrifices, and protects, often placing the needs of her children above her own without a second thought. And even when that child grows up, moves away, and builds a life of their own, a mother never stops being a mother. Her love remains, her prayers continue, and her heart forever carries the weight of her child’s joys and sorrows.

But sadly, not everyone gets to experience a lifetime with their mother. Some lose their mothers far too soon, left with only memories and longing. Others, though their mothers may be physically present, do not experience the depth of love and care that defines true motherhood. The absence of a mother’s love, whether through loss or neglect, leaves a void that nothing else can truly fill.

If you are blessed to have a mother or a mother figure in your life who embodies the true essence of motherhood, who loves selflessly, nurtures unconditionally, and stands by you through every season, then do not take that gift for granted. Honour her, cherish her, and most importantly, lift her up in prayer. Go before your knees and say this prayer for her.

A Prayer Of Gratitude For My Mother

Dear Lord,

Today, I come before You with a heart overflowing with gratitude. Thank You for the incredible woman You have placed in my life, a mother who has nurtured, guided, and loved me unconditionally.

From the moment I took my first breath, she has been by my side, offering warmth, comfort, and protection. Through every season of my life, she has remained a constant source of love and support, always sacrificing, always giving, always putting my needs before her own.

Lord, I am deeply grateful for the strength You have given her. She has faced challenges with grace, endured hardships with resilience, and poured her heart into raising and shaping me into the person I am today. Even when she is weary, she presses on.

Even when life burdens her, she carries those she loves with unwavering devotion. I see her efforts, her quiet prayers, her unspoken worries, and the love that shines through in all she does. Thank You for blessing me with a mother whose heart reflects Your own, full of kindness, wisdom, and selflessness.

Father, I ask that You continue to watch over her. Surround her with Your divine protection and fill her heart with joy and peace. Let her know that she is deeply loved, cherished, and appreciated not only by me but by You, her Heavenly Father, who sees every sacrifice and honours every act of love. Renew her strength each day, refresh her spirit, and grant her the desires of her heart according to Your will.

May she never feel alone, unappreciated, or forgotten. Instead, let her life be filled with love, laughter, and an abundance of blessings. Keep her in good health, cover her with Your grace, and guide her steps in all that she does. Lord, let her reap the rewards of the love she has sown, and may she always find rest in Your presence.

Thank You, Father, for the precious gift of her life. I will never take her for granted. I lift her up to You today, entrusting her into Your loving hands.

Amen.
