Day 2 – Pray For His Heart And Character

This entry is part 1 of 8 in the series 7 Days Fasting And Prayer For Future Husband

The Bible encourages us to guard our hearts because “out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). The heart of a man can be his greatest strength or his downfall. Scripture reminds us that “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45) and that our actions are a reflection of what is stored in our hearts.

On this second day of your fast for a future husband, pray for his heart and his character. The condition of his heart will directly impact your future marriage. A heart that is full of love, patience, and self-control will produce a man who reflects Christ in his words and actions. But a hardened or unguarded heart can lead to strife, selfishness, and poor decision-making.

Pray that your future husband’s heart is filled with the fruits of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Ask God to shape him into a man with integrity, humility, and compassion. Pray that his heart will be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and that he will be quick to repent when he falls short. A man with a heart aligned with God’s will is a man who will love, lead, and serve well.

Bible verses to meditate on today

    Proverbs 4:23

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

    Luke 6:45

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

    Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Prayers for his heart and character

    Pray for a loving husband

    Ephesians 5:28
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
    1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Pray for a husband who will love you as he loves his own body. A man who will cherish you, nurture you, and care for you with the same attention and devotion he gives himself. Just as some people go to great lengths to care for their appearance, health, and well-being, pray for a husband who will put that same effort into loving and supporting you.

A husband like this will see your well-being as part of his own, and he will work to ensure you are emotionally, spiritually, and physically cared for.

When a husband truly loves his wife, his actions flow effortlessly from that love. When he truly loves you, he naturally fulfills his responsibilities, making the relationship thrive without strain. One of the greatest tragedies in life is to be trapped in a marriage with a man who does not love you or understand what it means to love. Pray fervently to avoid this fate, seeking instead a husband whose love is deep, genuine, and unwavering.

Pray for a husband who puts his family first. A man who is willing to sacrifice his own desires to serve and protect those he loves. This mirrors the love of Christ, who gave Himself up for the church (Ephesians 5:25). Christ’s love is not passive; it is active, sacrificial, and enduring.

It’s important to remember that the “church” Christ loves is not a building, but a body of believers who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior. These people are His church, and Christ constantly pours out grace, power, favor, love, healing, and affection on them. He also provides them with a way to communicate directly with God. In the same way, pray for a husband who embodies these traits. Pray for a man who loves deeply, leads faithfully, and serves selflessly. A husband who reflects Christ’s love, and his leadership is rooted not in control but in love, humility, and service. Ask God for a man who will love you not just in words, but in action.

    Prayer

    Almighty Lord,
Thank You for today and for the strength to continue my fast. I am grateful for Your presence and for sustaining me through this journey of faith.

Today, I lift up my future husband's heart in prayer. I ask that You shape him into a man with love in his heart, not just for me, but for everyone around him. Lord, I pray for a man who loves deeply, leads faithfully, and serves selflessly. May his love be a reflection of Christ’s love, and may his leadership be rooted not in control but in love, humility, and service.

Father, direct me to a man who will love me not just in words, but in action. I desire a husband who is willing to sacrifice his own desires to serve and protect his family, just as Christ gave Himself up for the church.

Open my ears to hear Your voice and my eyes to see the man You have chosen for me. Let me not lean on my own understanding, but trust in Your perfect wisdom. Let me not reject what is good for me simply because it does not match my expectations.

Give me the wisdom to discern his character, Lord. Help me to recognize a man who is filled with love, one who puts his family first, and one who is willing to sacrifice himself for his loved ones. Let my heart be in alignment with Your will, and let this decision be one I never regret.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer. I trust in Your perfect timing and believe that You will bless me with a partner who reflects Your love.
    Amen.

    Pray for a faithful husband

    Ecclesiastes 9:9
Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.

Solomon reflects on the duty of a husband to love his wife all the days of his life, even amid the toil and fleeting nature of existence under the sun. Life, as Solomon often observes, can feel meaningless, a cycle of struggle and labor with little rest or resolution.

No one asks to be born, and yet, the cycle continues, bringing others into the same toil under the sun. Existence itself often feels like pain, and many might have preferred never to exist in a fallen world rather than face its challenges and struggles.

Yet, it’s essential to remember that God did not create man for suffering. His original design was for humanity to live in happiness, perfection, and close fellowship with Him. But this fallen world is now marked by pain, sin, wickedness, and evil.

On Day 2, pray for a husband who will stand firm in the face of this broken world. Pray for a man who will not be easily swept away by sin or succumb to the temptations and distractions that lead many astray. Ask God for a husband who will cling to you in loyalty and love throughout his meaningless days and nights under the sun.

Pray for a husband who embodies the qualities Solomon describes. One who will love you steadfastly, not just in moments of ease or beauty, but in all circumstances.

Ask for a partner who will remain faithful through the trials of life. One who will not abandon you because of hardship, mistakes, or the loss of youthful charm. Pray for a husband whose love reflects the enduring and unshakable commitment God calls us to in marriage.

    Prayer

    Father Lord,
Today, I come before You with a prayer for a faithful husband. I ask for a man whose mind and heart are always focused on his home. Lord, let him not be swayed by temptations but remain strong and committed. May he be a man of integrity, grounded in faith, and filled with the wisdom to choose what is right.

Father, I pray for a husband who is strong and focused. A man prepared to walk through every season of life with me. Let him be a man of substance, with a heart full of purpose and a mind set on progress. I ask for a man who does not rest on his laurels but constantly strives for growth.

Bless him to be a man with a plan. One who seeks Your guidance in all his decisions. Let him be a determined man, a man of action, and a man of vision. Let him stand firmly by his family, supporting his children with love, wisdom, and strength.

Father, I pray for a man who fights for his family, protects his household, and leads us in faith. Do not allow him to lead us into poverty, but instead, strengthen him to face difficult times with courage and resilience. Let him trust in Your provision and rely on Your strength in times of uncertainty.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer. I trust that You are preparing this man even now and that, in Your perfect timing, he will be revealed.
    Amen.

    Pray for a forgiving Husband

    Colossians 3:13, 14
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Also, pray for a forgiving partner. A husband should embody patience, selflessness, and forgiveness. He should not be quick-tempered or hasty in judgment. Instead, he must have the ability to control his emotions while making wise decisions for his family. He should remain composed in the face of storms and uncertainty, providing a steady and reassuring presence.

When you pray to God for something deeply rooted in your heart, He doesn’t send it directly through the mail. Instead, He gives you opportunities to find or recognize it. As you pray, keep your eyes open for the signs and clues He places in your path.

A forgiving husband is someone who is approachable and easy to communicate with. He will cooperate with you and be open to seeing things from your perspective. He is someone you can confide in without fear of his reaction. A forgiving husband sets a good example for your children, modeling love, patience, and understanding.

Use this day of prayer to call forth that husband in the spirit. Remember, prayer is not just a conversation with God; it’s also a time to make requests and submissions that align with His promises for your life. Pray with intention, envisioning the qualities you desire in a partner, and trust that God will guide you in recognizing and nurturing the person He has prepared for you.

    Prayer

    Dear God,
Today, I come before You to pray for my future husband. Lord, I ask that You prepare him for me in every way. Shape his heart and mind according to Your will, and mold him into the man You have destined him to be.

Father, give him a kind heart, one that loves deeply and shows compassion to all. Grant him a forgiving heart, so that he is quick to release offense and slow to anger. Bless him with a strong will that allows him to stand firm in faith and persevere through life's challenges. Surround him with Your grace and favor, and let Your hand always rest upon him.

Fill him with patience, Lord. Give him a calm and peaceful spirit that is not easily shaken. Help him grow spiritually so that he becomes a man rooted in Your Word and led by the Holy Spirit. Let him be a man of substance, a man of character, integrity, and moral strength.

Father, grant him the wisdom to lead with understanding, the patience to raise a family with love, and the strength to protect and provide for his household. Above all, let him be a man after Your own heart, seeking You in all things just as David was. Let him walk in purpose and fulfill every goal and dream that aligns with Your will for his life.

And Lord, as You prepare him, prepare me as well. Shape me into the woman who will support, love, and uplift him. Let our union be a reflection of Your love for the church.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer. I trust that, in Your perfect timing, You will bring us together.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

    Pray for a tolerant husband

In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,
and do not give the devil a foothold.
    Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
    Ephesians 4:26,27
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
    1 Peter 3:7

Pray for a husband who embodies tolerance, gentleness, and peace. A man whose heart reflects the traits of Christ. Seek a partner who will not act out in anger but will remain gentle even in moments of irritation.

Ask God for a husband with a kind and peaceful soul, someone who will nurture harmony in your home and avoid creating an environment of conflict. Pray for someone who listens with an open heart and mind. One who seeks to understand before speaking, and who makes decisions with kindness, discernment, and wisdom.

Ask for a man who mirrors the traits of Christ. Remember how Jesus, when faced with hostility from His own people, chose not to retaliate but calmly walked away. When confronted with the adulterous woman, He refrained from judgment, offering forgiveness and transforming her life instead.

Pray for a husband who embodies these qualities; slow to anger, quick to forgive, and steady in his emotions. Ask God for a man with a long-suffering spirit, one who values peace. A husband who maintains decorum and security in your home, a man who prioritizes the well-being of his family and nurtures a safe, loving, and harmonious environment.

    Prayer

    Dear Father,

I pray for a calm husband, a man with a gentle soul who will love and cherish me deeply. Let him be someone who can control his anger and not be consumed by rage but walks in patience and self-control. I ask for a partner who is not harsh in his dealings but is composed and level-headed, even in the most challenging situations.

Bless me with a loving and kind husband, one who will raise our children with the best values and principles. Let him be a father who passes on good qualities to our kids, leaving a legacy of virtue and strength.

Let him be composed in his thoughts, actions, and decisions. Let him treat others with grace, compassion, and fairness. Let his words be seasoned with wisdom and kindness, never harsh or destructive.

I pray for a man who shares the traits of Christ, someone who chooses love over anger and embodies patience, forgiveness, and grace. Lord, bless my future husband and mold him into the perfect partner for me and the ideal leader for our family.

    Amen.

    Pray for a providing husband

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
    1 Timothy 5:8

Pray for a provider. Ask God to bless you with a husband who takes responsibility for his home and puts his house in order. Pray for a man who never rejects his duties, one who always shows up when he is needed.

Ask for a husband who is ready to sacrifice for his family. A man who would lay down his life for his loved ones. Pray for someone who stands up for his family, ensuring they are well cared for, protected, and secure.

Pray for a husband who is wise with resources, one who does not waste money or energy on things that bring no value to his household. Ask God to shield you from a husband with destructive habits. One who is adulterous, sexually immoral, a drunkard, a gambling addict, quarrelsome, argumentative, or bound by substance abuse. Pray that God leads you away from such men and toward a man of honor and integrity.

Ask God to send you a husband who will never bring disgrace to you or your family. Instead, pray for a man who will bring honor, dignity, and pride to your household. Let him be a source of joy, peace, and stability. Pray for a man who fears the Lord, for a man who walks with God will lead his family in righteousness.

    Prayer

    Dear Lord,

I come before You with a sincere heart, asking for a husband of honor. A man worthy of respect and grace. I pray for a man who will treat me with kindness, dignity, and unconditional love, just as Christ loves the church.

Father, I reject any husband with destructive habits. I reject a man bound by addiction to drugs, alcohol, or any other substance. I reject a man who would abuse me in any form — physically, emotionally, or verbally. I reject a man whose heart is filled with hatred or unforgiveness. Surround me with Your protection, Lord, and lead me far away from such men.

I trust You, Lord, to choose the right husband for me. I ask for a man who will help me grow spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Send me a partner who supports me in fulfilling my God-given purpose. Let him be a faithful man who will never betray my trust.

Lord, I ask for a husband with wisdom in managing our family's resources. Let him be a good steward who does not waste what You have provided. May he be disciplined, responsible, and intentional in building a home that glorifies You.

    In Jesus' name, I pray,
    Amen.

Pray for a man who will be a good example

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
    Proverbs 22:6

Pray for a good role model. Ask God to bless you with a husband who embodies strong family values and a heart rooted in the principles of the Lord. Pray for a man who will raise your children with wisdom, love, and discipline, teaching them to walk in the ways of God. Ask for a partner who will be a living example of integrity, faith, and strength. Someone your children can look up to and seek to model their lives after.

Pray for a protector. A man who will stand guard over his family, shielding them from harm and making wise decisions that ensure their safety and well-being. Ask God to send you a husband with the wisdom to lead and protect, one who is guided by the Holy Spirit in all he does.

Pray for a man who will bring peace, not quarrels, into your home. Ask for a partner who can nurture a loving, harmonious environment where joy, patience, and understanding prevail. Pray for a husband who will never cause your family to be a source of shame, but rather a family that reflects honor, dignity, and godly values.

This is the kind of partner you must pray and fast for. A man who brings stability, strength, and love into your home. Pray for God’s divine guidance in this process, trusting that He will send you the partner who is perfectly aligned with His will for your life.

    Prayer

    Father Lord,

I come before You in prayer, asking for a husband who will be a good example for our children. I pray for a man who will raise them with strong Christian values and guide them in Your ways. Let him be a father who fills our home with peace and love, creating an environment where our children feel protected, cherished, and safe.

Lord, I ask that You keep me from a man with habits that could negatively impact our children's lives. Shield us from influences that could bring harm or confusion. Instead, I pray for a man of honor and integrity, one who walks in wisdom and truth.

Bless us with a husband and father who will provide for his family with love, patience, and care. Let him be a role model our children can look up to and respect. May his strength be rooted in You, and may his compassion and kindness flow throughout our home.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer. I trust that You will send the right man in Your perfect time.

    In Jesus' name, I pray,
    Amen
