Reflections

There’s a common saying, “Heaven helps those who help themselves,” which has led many believers to think that in order to receive God’s help, they must first rely on their own strength and efforts. However, when we turn to the Bible, we see that God doesn’t require our personal striving to come through in any situation.

All He asks for is our faith in Him, and He will take care of the rest. You don’t need to depend on your own abilities or understanding. In fact, Isaiah 55:8 reminds us that God’s thoughts and ways are far beyond ours. If that’s true, how can we assume that our actions would somehow assist God in helping us? We don’t even fully understand how God plans to fight our battles. As humans, our knowledge is limited, and we often don’t know the consequences of our own actions.

The best course is to be still and allow God to work. He will fight for you, rescue you, and restore everything you’ve lost. He will do it all, without you needing to intervene. Simply be still, hold on to your faith, and never let it waver. Trust in God’s power, and He will take care of the rest.

Prayer

exodus 14:14 prayer
Almighty God,

I come before You today with a heart weighed down by fear and uncertainty. I feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do, which stirs up anxiety within me. But, Lord, I know I should not act based on these feelings. So instead, I turn to You. Calm my anxious heart and strengthen my trust in You. Help me not to make any decisions that might worsen my situation. Grant me peace, Lord, and remind me of Your power to do far beyond what I can imagine. Thank You, Lord, for always fighting for me, for rescuing me, and for giving me victory. I am grateful, Father.

Amen.
