Leviticus 19:11
“Do not steal. Do not lie. Do not deceive one another.”
Devotional
Our walk with God is not limited to just spiritual rituals or moments of private devotion, it extends deeply into how we live among others. God is not only concerned with how we relate to Him, but also how we treat our fellow human beings. In Leviticus 19:11, we find a clear command that speaks to the integrity of daily life: “Do not steal. Do not lie. Do not deceive one another.”
This verse serves as a reminder that honesty, respect, and fairness are core to God’s expectations for us. He created us to live in communities, and He has given us a divine “manual” for how to interact with one another in peace. This commandment is not simply about avoiding criminal acts; it’s about the condition of the heart and how we value other people’s rights and dignity.
Stealing is not limited to physical possessions. It includes stealing someone’s time, taking credit for their work, hijacking their opportunities, or using their ideas without acknowledgment. These are modern forms of theft that can be just as damaging as taking something tangible.
Lying and deceit break down the trust that relationships are built upon. When we lie or manipulate others, we undermine the very foundation of love and fellowship. God warns us against these actions not only because they are sinful, but because they destroy the community and unity He desires for us to have.
Living with integrity may not always be easy, especially in a world that often rewards cutting corners. But it is what sets us apart as God’s people. Honesty fosters trust. Trust builds peace. And peace nurtures a society where love can thrive.
God is calling you not just to be spiritual, but to be relational, honest, respectful, and dependable. In choosing integrity, you reflect the character of God to others.

Prayer
Dear Lord, Help me to be truthful in all my dealings today. Guard my heart against the temptation to lie, steal, or deceive. Teach me to value what belongs to others, whether it’s their time, their property, or their trust. Help me to live with integrity and honour, even when no one is watching. Let my actions build peace, not conflict; trust, not suspicion. Help me to reflect your righteousness in my everyday relationships. Let my life inspire others to do right, not by pressure, but by the example of grace and truth. And as I live in community with others, may I become a peacemaker Someone who uplifts, protects, and lives in harmony with those around me. Amen.
