Luke 2:11 Meaning

There was great joy in heaven the night that Jesus was born. This should remind us of how important the redemption of mankind was to God and all the heavenly hosts.

For years, prophets had spoken of a Messiah who would come to save humanity, and at long last, the time had come, the Savior was born.

While the shepherds watched their flocks by night, an angel appeared to them and delivered these words. Imagine how astonished they must have been, suddenly seeing an angel in their midst, surrounded by a heavenly glow.

God chose to announce the birth of His Son to shepherds, whose humble profession was the same as that of King David.

In doing so, He demonstrated that the Savior was coming not just for the rich or powerful, but for the humble and meek, just as David, a shepherd boy, was chosen to be king.
