Devotional

Love is a word we often throw around as human beings. We often equate love to the lustful feelings we feel towards each other. We also use it for those we are often intimate with. There are also instances where we focus on other material things in our lives and give our love to those things.

We sometimes develop love for the wrong things such as money, gossip, spite, unforgiveness, anger and other vices. Whatever we develop a love for normally influences our lives in a very controlling way. It dominates our minds and causes us to be irrational sometimes.

Loving the wrong things causes us to open the door for all types of demonic spirits that can enter our lives and keep us in bondage. The man who was possessed by a legion of demons in Mark 5 had his life completely changed by the demon possession. He slept in tombs and was completely disconnected from his family. That is what demonic spirits do. They drive you further away from the Lord until they have completely destroyed your life.

However, there is good news. The best way to avoid loving the wrong things is to love God instead. Instead of spending your time watching or fixating on the wrong things, spend that time with God. Replace your love for the world with your love for God and all doors that allowed demons to enter your life to put you in bondage will be closed.

Fall intimately in love with God. Let the Lord’s word dominate your thoughts and live for him. Let him be your love and your life will never be the same. His love drives out all demons from your life and causes you to love Him more and more.

Prayer

Dear Lord,
Thank You for being my God. Thank you for loving me first before I even knew You.
I come before You, acknowledging that I am weak and I have strayed. In my disobedience, I have allowed darkness into my life and chosen the wrong path, that has opened the doors to demons in my life.
I have loved the wrong things that are not of You. But now, Lord, I want to turn my heart fully toward You. I want to love You, Lord. Help me to drive out all the demons in my life. Please strengthen me to drive out every evil influence, and transform my life so that it reflects Your will. Let my life never be the same again.
In the powerful name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
