Verse – Joshua 10:12-13

On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”
So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.

Thoughts

There is always a day and a time. As you read through the Bible, you’ll notice that God has an appointed time for everything He does. When you follow His plan and instructions, He creates a way for you to overcome the battles you face along your journey. Even when victory seems impossible, He intervenes in divine ways.

Consider Moses. God promised to help him free the Israelites, yet there were several moments when Moses felt that freedom was out of reach, especially when Pharaoh, the king’s heart was hardened and he had decided to not let it happen.

But God revealed His power at every turn, even when the Israelites were trapped at the Red Sea, with nowhere to go and the Egyptian army pursuing them to kill them. In that desperate moment, God made a divine way forward.

Similarly, in the story of Joshua, we see God’s power displayed again. In this verse, Joshua bears witness to the divine power of God. God’s intervention as He holds the sun still to secure victory in battle.

In the same way, if you live according to God’s purpose and plans, He will move on your behalf, guiding you through any challenge. He sees the future, knows what’s best, and understands that by following His path, you will fulfill the purpose He has for you. God is always ready to help you through the struggles you encounter along His path. Any other path outside of God’s plan often leads to hardship and unnecessary pain.

  • Even when things seem impossible, God will intervene on my behalf with His miraculous power.

Prayer

Dear Lord,
Help me to listen to Your voice. Just as You listened to Joshua’s request and made the sun stand still to secure victory, I trust that You will move powerfully in my life to fulfill Your plans. Guide me to follow Your purpose for my life, and keep me from relying on my own limited understanding. Do not let me follow my own convictions. I know You have a plan for me, plans for goodness and prosperity. Lead me step by step into the fullness of those plans.
Protect me from any evil along the way, and strengthen my faith in You each day. So that I may witness Your miracles and trust Your power in every challenge.
Amen.
