Verse – Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.
For All Have Sinned – Romans 5:12
It sounds unfair that through one man’s transgression we all became sinful even though we had not physically done anything wrong. There are those who suggest that each one’s sin must be carried by them. So Adam’s trangression should not have affected all of his descendants.
But have you thought about it for a second why God decided that through Adam’s transgression, all his descendants were guilty? Well, it’s because He wanted to save everyone through one person’s sacrifice. If through one man all are guilty, then through one man all can be saved.
After Adam and Eve transgressed against God, He kicked them out of the garden because there was one tree He didn’t want them to eat from. He drove them out because He did not want them to eat anymore from the tree of life.
Remember there were two trees in the garden that God spoke to them about. The Tree of Life and the Tree of Death, which was also known as the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He warned them not to eat from the tree of death because they were surely going to die if they did. They did eat it. He did not want them to know evil, but He also did not want them to know good. Because it is impossible to know good without knowing evil because it is just the opposite.
As Paul said, knowledge of sin or the law is a sin because, without the law, there would be no knowledge of sin. However, the good news for us is that God has already sent His son to pay the price for our sins. So even though Adam’s sin caused us all to be condemned, Jesus’ sacrifice has redeemed us all.
We need only to believe. Sin can no longer send us to hell but rather unbelief in what Christ has done for us. If sin could still send us to hell, then Christ would have died in vain. Let’s say you owe the bank a lot of money and they decide to give you three days to pay or they put you in jail. If someone gives you a blank cheque that will pay your debt and tells you to put your name on it and take to the bank to clear yourself and you refuse it, will you go to jail because of the debt you owe or the fact that you refused the cheque?
