Verse – John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Thoughts

So great was God’s love for the world that He gave up His only begotten son for the world’s salvation. It is easy to take this verse for granted because it is a very common one known to most people, even those who do not believe in Him.

However, have you considered how much you must love something to be prepared to give up your begotten son for it? Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his beloved son earned him the righteousness of God through his belief. This also showed that Abraham loved God. God made him great and also blessed him abundantly.

This verse therefore tells us that God’s love for us is immeasurable and if we believe in it, we can share in the inheritance of Abraham. To be able to be in the place of Abraham you must be as he was. Those who love God must show it through belief.

In the garden of Eden, there were two people who wanted to be believed, God and the serpent. God told Adam and Eve that they would die if they ate of the tree. The serpent told them they would not die if they ate of the tree but rather be wise as God was. They chose to believe the serpent because of the lies he told them. By doing so they showed they did not love God because they did not believe Him. That should tell you that belief in God is love for God.

Prayer

Dear Lord,
Thank you for saving me and drawing me close to you. Help me to stay strong in faith, rooted deeply in your love and truth. Let me not be deceived by evil; let my heart and mind remain steadfast. Guide me to meditate on your Word day and night, filling my spirit with your wisdom and strength. Grant me the unwavering faith of Abraham, that I may boldly claim my inheritance in you. Keep me on the path that leads to you, and never let me stray.

Amen.
