Verse – 2 Samuel 22:31
As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
Thoughts
King David sings praises to the Lord in this verse. He recounts God goodness in his reign as the king of Israel. He documents all the things God has done for him step by step. He compares God to a Rock in Whom he takes refuge, shelter and protection.
During war or battles, the most advantageous positions to take is spot where your enemies cannot spot you. A spot where you can see everything that is going on including the plans and progress of your enemies.
Can you share David’s joy with him? Is God your salvation and refuge? Do you seek protection and cover in Him when your enemies come for you?
David proceeds in this chapter to say that it got to a point when he thought he would die. He says the cords of the grave coiled around him, and the snares of death confronted him. In his distress, he called on God and He delivered him from all of it. He goes on to illustrate God’s power in his song of praise. He spoke of God parting the heavens and smoke rising from His nostrils and shaking the foundation of the earth to save him. (2 Samuel 22:1-10)
This tells us that God is still the creator of this universe and still has power over all on earth. When you find yourself in a difficult situation, you must always call on God no matter how dire the situation might be. Even if you feel you are seconds away from succumbing to your enemies, call on the Lord your God and He will deliver you from the hands of your enemies.

I will never give in to my enemies whilst I know the Lord is ready to deliver me at any moment.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Please help me in my time of need. When my enemies pursue me, when I stand on the brink of death and despair, when all seems lost, and I don’t know where to turn, please be my strength. When hope fades, when friends abandon me, when my strength fails, and darkness closes in, come through for me, Lord. Be my rock and my redemption. Let me sing in my pain, and carry me through to deliverance.
Amen
