A great leader puts the needs of others above his own. He is sympathetic to their grief and their needs. He treats them equally and does not discriminate among them.
If you want to see great leadership look at the way God deals with His people. He sees all of their needs and provides them. He listens to their prayers and does things that will help them in their future and not just their now. He protects them from their enemies and teaches them wisdom. He blesses them in abundance and leaves them with inheritance even for their future generations.
A good leader is a good father. He serves his family and makes sure they are well taken care of. He makes sure the electric bill is paid, the gas bill is paid, the water bill is paid, and that they are protected from any enemies that want their downfall. He lays down his life to protect them when he needs to and will do everything humanly possible to make sure of their survival.
But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
Luke 12:48
A new president is a new father for the nation. Instead of a small family, they are entrusted with the wellbeing and sustenance of millions. They are not to discriminate among their people just like a good father doesn’t show favoritism among their children. They shouldn’t target those who may hate him or oppose him but rather bring everyone together under the same umbrella.
To become a president means the good Lord touched the hearts of many people to vote you into office. That means it is not really the people who made you president but rather the grace of God.
God makes kings and leaders. He puts people in high places who can make His plans for His people come to reality. You must be a president who does the will of God and not the will of sinners.
A good president governs according to God’s word so that the curses that come with the absence of God are not visited on the nation. God is nature. He sustains everything beautiful that you see. The moment God leaves your presence, darkness comes in to take the place of light and then doom is born in that place.

Prayer for wisdom for the president
Dear Lord,
I pray today for the new president. I ask that You make him a beacon of new hope for the country. Grant him wisdom to make good decisions, and shape him into a good and righteous leader. Speak to him in times of doubt, and give him restraint in moments of anger.
Fill his heart with tolerance for his people, and help him serve with dignity and integrity.
Give him a listening ear, and the wisdom of Solomon to lead with understanding and justice.
Let him make choices that are in the best interest of the people and guide him to rule according to Your divine purpose.
Amen.
Prayer for strength for the president
Dear Lord,
I pray for strength and courage for the president.
Grant him the strength to govern with wisdom and integrity.
Help him make decisions that put the welfare of his people first.
Protect him from being influenced by the rich or controlled by those in high places.
Guide him to do what is right, according to Your will.
May he make his nation proud and serve with honour.
Give him grace and favour, and order his steps into glory.
Bless all that he touches and let him walk in glorious strength.
Make his ways straight and bless his leadership.

Prayer against discrimination
Heavenly Father,
I lift up the new president in prayer.
Make him a unifier, one who brings people together in peace and harmony.
Let him treat all people with dignity and respect, without discrimination.
Help him to see every group as valuable and not as enemies, and guide him to represent all people, not just the actions of a few.
Grant him a discerning spirit, and prompt him when he strays from Your path.
Direct him when he goes astray so that he may lead with wisdom and compassion.
and calm him in his anger. Keep the devil far from his heart, and protect him from the bitterness of the past. Help him to see Your people as You do, with love and understanding.

Prayer for unification
Dear Lord in Heaven,
I pray for the new president today.
Let him be a unifier, unifying races, countries, and continents.
A unifier of men and women, people with different ideologies, and political affiliations.
Let him bring unity to the government and to all people. Touch him with Your Spirit and make him a wise mediator, one who bridges divisions with understanding and compassion.
Help him to create a nation where all people pursue a common goal, working together as one family.
And let all of this be done according to Your holy will.

Prayer against enemies
Dear Lord,
I pray for all the enemies of this country.
I ask for a change of heart, that they may pursue peace with us.
Grant them wisdom to avoid conflict, and cast evil from their minds.
Cast the devil from their midst and help them see eye to eye with us.
Let there be peaceful negotiations between us, and let those who seek peace find it.
Protect us from those determined to destroy us, and be with us in times of conflict.
Just as You stood behind the Israelites in the days of Moses, stand behind our great country.
Give the president the knowledge and support he needs, and grant him victory in any conflict we may face.

Prayer for humility for the president
Heavenly Father,
I pray for humility for the president. Let him realise that he is a servant to the people and understand his role with grace and responsibility. Take away pride from his heart and help him recognize Your purpose for his presidency.
Give him a clear understanding of what his people need, and help him be present for his people.
Grant him the ability to set aside his inhibitions, and help him treat all people equally, without discrimination.
Fill his heart with love for everyone, no matter who they are, and guide him to protect and care for his people. Grant him the foresight to see what is best for the future of his people, and guide his leadership with wisdom.

Prayer for the country
Heavenly Father,
I pray for this country, especially in the aftermath of the elections.
Though tensions are still high, I pray for calm.
Calm the hearts of those who lost. Calm the hearts of those who won too.
Help them not to provoke or incite others.
Remind us that we are still a strong nation, united in Your grace.
Let the laws and rules of the land prevail,
And let the blessings upon this country remain.
Let the liberty and freedom we enjoy continue to flourish.
May this new chapter bring redemption and healing to our land.
Let the future be bright for this country,
And let unity and peace prevail.
Let everyone stay focused on their own responsibilities,
And bless the work of our hands.

I lift up this new government before You.

Let each leader find and walk in their purpose, and let them lead with care and compassion.
Guide them to meet the needs of the people and to serve with humility.
Protect them from pride and greed, and help them to govern with integrity.
Let this new government take the country from glory to glory, and let Your hand of blessing be upon them.

Leaders determine the course of the people. They decide the future. This is why they need prayers. They need God’s favour and grace to be able to govern according to His will and not theirs. These people have personal lives and they get attacked by the evil one just like everyone else. They also need the hand of God in their lives. A tormented leader will torment his people. They need God. Pray for your leaders and let God be their leader in all things.
Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.
